About Ratbags

We are the ratbags; naughty theatre-makers who use laughter to celebrate difference and inspire change.

Ratbags is a collaborative hothouse for multidisciplinary performance works in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Led by theatremaker, director and performer Katie Burson, Ratbags seeks to fortify and enrich the theatre community in Tāmaki Makaurau, championing new theatre forms, and providing a platform for new artistic voices.

A Ratbag show is an irreverent gathering of fools; a transportive musing on what makes us human, through joy, sadness and rage. The making and sharing process is collaborative, generous, and playful. If it isn't fun, we don’t want to do it.
